COURSE AIM:
To revisit and update pool rescue skills followed by
reassessment of the Qualification.
COURSE
SUMMARY:
This course is for those who already hold this award and
preferably have a record of ongoing training.
The Award is recognised in "Managing Health and
Safety in Swimming Pools" as being appropriate for those
supervising swimming pool programmed activities.
The course includes:

Basic life support |
Rescue techniques |
|
Rescue techniques |
Incident management |
|
Management of the unconscious casualty, both on
land and in the swimming pool |
Awareness and management of suspected spinal cord injury |
It is expected that applicants will be familiar with the
contents of the National Rescue Awards especially the theory
sections:
|
Pool safety operating procedures |
Risk assessment and pool hazards |
|
Class management and safety |
Aquatic First Aid |
There will be an opportunity to discuss these areas, but the
majority of the training is on practical elements
WHAT
ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
Applicants must hold a
current award. Those who have allowed the award to lapse
and have an ongoing training record will be accepted. If
you are in doubt please contact the centre for advice.

AN I OBTAIN A QUALIFICATION?
RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and
Coaches.
HOW
ARE THE CANDIDATES ASSESSED FOR A QUALIFICATION?
Practical and Theory Test by an
independent assessor at the end of the course.
