NATIONAL POOL LIFEGUARD RLSS/UK - WEEKLY

COURSE SUMMARY:
This award is recognised throughout the country as the minimum requirement for pool lifeguards. The course covers action in an emergency, control measures, first aid procedures and rescue methods. The first half of each session covers theory work, the second half is in the pool.

WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
All students must be 16 years of age.
Students with physical or learning difficulties may not be able to reach the standard demanded by the examiner and will be advised on an individual basis.
Students should be able to swim a minimum distance of 100 metres with a minimum speed of 50 metres in 60 seconds.

CAN I OBTAIN A QUALIFICATION?
The Foundation Module of the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification RLSS/UK.

HOW ARE THE CANDIDATES ASSESSED FOR A QUALIFICATION?
Continual assessment and final assessment by an independent assessor.

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE LAST?
12 weeks. It is essential that students attend all sessions. Additional sessions for assessment may be arranged.

DO I NEED ANYTHING FOR THE FIRST CLASS?
Swim wear, tee-shirt, shorts/skirt (to be worn over swimwear in the pool area) towel, whistle, notepad and pen, sandwiches and a drink.
